Adanac Cemetery near Courcelette, Somme
Among the 1071 Canadians buried at Adanac Cemetery lies Victoria Cross recipient Piper James Richardson of the 16th (The Canadian Scottish Battalion) killed October 9, 1916 aged twenty. Regina Trench, where James Richardson was killed, ran to the south of Adanac Cemetery and vestiges of the depression are still visible in the landscape. His story is told in The Pipes of War.
