The Southern elephant seals of Sea Lion Island have been studied for the past 20 years by the Elephant Seal Research Group headed by Drs Filippo Galimberti & Simona Sanvito We were privileged to meet Filippo and be introduced to these amazing giants and to have the opportunity to photograph them.

The South American sea lion for which Sea Lion Island is named breeds in several locations around the island, the most notable being East Loafers, a bay on the south side of the island.
